Chad McDonald

Chad is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Utah
College of Social Work and Director of the Social Research Institute (SRI). With more than 23
years of experience in child welfare, including roles as a trainer and administrator with Utah’s
Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS), his work focuses on workforce development,
particularly skills development through enhanced teaching and learning methods and
competency assessment. He serves as Principal Investigator for the Title IV-E Training and
Education contracts and is Co-Faculty Administrator of the Virtual Skills & Workforce Trainer
(VSWT) Service Center, which advances immersive, theory-driven training tools for social work
practice. Chad also serves as Vice-Chair of the National Staff Development and Training
Association (NSDTA) Executive Advisory Council (EAC).
